With the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in the UK due to end in 2035, the government needs to do more to ensure that public charging points for electric vehicles are accessible to drivers with access needs. With the charging-point hubs that have a couple of wider bays (accessible) and then loads of inaccessible bays, non-disabled drivers, including those who drive vans and minibuses, often choose the accessible bays for convenience. Why can’t these be blue badge spaces so at least they can only be used by people who rely on that extra space to get in and out the car?
