Mommy daughter day earning our spring turns. We teamed up with Burton Snowboards to test out the new Burton Step On Split setup! #weridetogether Here are my thoughts on the whole experience. Nick and I have always talked about getting more into split boarding. It’s tough though with littles as there isn’t really a small split board setup out there that our daughter could use. Now that little Cashy is able to do more intense terrain it has opened up more opportunities to learn new skills together as a family. Once we figured out how we would get her up the mountain, it was game on! For my first time split boarding there are some things I would like to tell you. 1. The Burton Step On Split Bindings truly helped me get in and out easier. I literally have no idea what I am doing. However, I was able to easily set up my split board by myself so that should tell you how easy they are to use! 2. Splitboarding is one hell of a workout! I was sweating my butt off and breathing like a mad woman but heck yeah I was having fun! Nothing more freeing than being outside in the sun and enjoying nature. 3. Pulling Cashy up behind me made her work on balance and core control and she had no idea. That’s the best form of training haha 4. It was such a fun day with my girl that I hope we continue to do this for many, many years to come! This video was filmed in a little area of our local resort that allows for uphill travel during the week. It’s a low angle zone and use of avy gear is not necessary here. It’s a great place for people like us to learn what we are doing before we go out into unfamiliar zones of the back country. Please keep in mind, if you are going to get into split boarding, please make sure you know your terrain and snow conditions. If you are venturing into the backcountry, don’t go without the proper gear and education. The thirst for trying new things goes hand in hand with the thirst for knowledge. It’s something that we hold very dear to our hearts. Something we want to teach our daughter and something that makes us feel like we are truly living this life to the fullest. #mommydaughter #splitboarding #snowboarding

It happened way too soon! I always knew my daughter would be a better rider than I ever was. Did I think that would happen at 7 years old…no, no I did not! #proudparents We are so beyond proud of our little. Her fearlessness, sense of adventure and stoke on life is truly why we live the way we live. She inspires us daily to look at the glass half full, to push our boundaries and to never let a fall hold you back from soaring above the clouds! On this particular day we had a killer morning skinning and ripping that spring pow slush. The sun was shinning and the vibes were high so we decided to hit the front side for a few laps. We ended up down a black diamond run called Blackbird that was so perfect. Groomed, slightly icy with a bit of texture. Ultimate speed run ability. On the first run Nick just full sent as I watched our little Cashy follow with grace. Once we hit the bottom she was so fired up going that fast that she was ready to hit it again. As you can see on the video we all stopped at the top of Blackbird and full sent. Me (mom) was literally left in the snow dust (see the second POV). Nick clocked his top speed as 52.1 mph and Cash was right behind him. Before this we have clocked her at 39 mph as her fastest so to full send 10+ mph faster with so much control and great edge work is beyond comprehension. She is just that good. Maybe it’s the Little Spoon snacks? Now I (Whit) gotta get it together or I will be sitting on the knuckle for the rest of my life with a long lens in my hand #snowboarding #snowboardtutorials #gofast #bogusbasin

There’s more to this video than her MASSIVE full send! #proudparents With our home resort not really having small jump lines sized for the little groms to learn on, I have been teaching her to get comfortable with air travel by popping off the knuckles. She has been learning more and more where to pop on a jump knuckle to get the most air and on this day, as you can see in the video… SHE BOOSTED! I’ll digress because to me that’s not even the most impressive part of this. It’s her control of her landing that got me the most excited. She blasted off and went way bigger than she thought she would but when she landed (basically in the flats) she had a very well controlled slide out and kept her momentum to make the next section. Being able to crash but not yardsale is a huge skill! Im so proud of the way she handled this. She didn’t let the fall deter her and she kept ripping down the rest of the features she’s comfortable on. Back to why I want her popping the knuckles. I think it’s a great low consequence way for her to get comfortable in the air. Plus, as she starts spinning and such it’s a safe place to practice those spins and tricks at higher speeds! As always we’d love to hear your feedback but please keep the rude unnecessary to yourself! #FamilyFun #snowboarding #kids #girlpower

International Women’s Day means so much to me as a mom and heres why. #womensday2024 Two years ago I was watching the Beijing Winter Olympics with my family and I witnessed one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen during the Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle event. It was support, empowerment and love between all the women. All of the ladies were cheering each other on, giving hugs and hi fives and being absolutely fired up when their fellow competitors landed a hard trick. Something they all know is hard yet there was no jealously, just sheer fire and stoke! It got me thinking. Society has pushed us to compete, to judge and to dislike those that are doing it better, look better, or choose to live differently. Why? Maybe because in the past it seemed there was only one seat at the table for a woman. NOT ANYMORE! When we support each other and lift each other up we become unstoppable beyond belief. That is one thing I want to teach my daughter. The only person you are competing with IS YOU, so don’t look down on others for not being like you. Life is full of hardships in general so don’t make it harder by competing against what society says we need to. Support, empowerment and love. The three things that will inspire any human that you can do anything, be anything and achieve anything. Do It Scared if you must but know that Rowley girls are there supporting you! When Nick showed me this final edit, I couldn’t hold back the tears falling down my face. Tears for the little me that didn’t hear it enough, to the present me for all the amazing moments, and for future me knowing that I am raising a strong, powerful and supportive woman in little Cashy. When we talk about support, this video is also a huge thank you to our GoPro family (most of which who are women). They have been our biggest supporter of our adventures and lifestyle. In a flooded world of content creators, they picked us, believed in us when no one else did and have empowered us to shine through our freedom of creation. Showing us nothing but love and making us feel like family. There are some really awesome women of GoPro that have become like sisters to Nick and I as well as Aunties to little Cashy. I don’t think we can thank you enough for what you have done for our little family! #internationalwomensday #womenempowerment #girlpower #mommydaughter

Even though she falls, she gets back up (with a little help from Nick of course), and continues to soar. Then to be able to boost a jump, land in very deep fluff and ride it out is just another level. #snowboardkids This year has been a special one. We had been blessed with a few late winter storms that have given all of us the opportunity to shred the pow (FINALLY)!! Little Cashy especially. She has experienced the fluff before but this year she was able to get herself into that deep deep on the steep steep! This clip is one of our favorite little side drops. It starts steep, then goes flat, then takes you through some tighter, steeper trees to the cat track below. We don’t venture here much unless there is a lot of untracked snow because it gets icy and moguls quickly. So knowing we had an opening we went for it and little Cash was right behind us. Well technically she dropped first because, why not, but then she realized she had no idea where she was going and needed a little guidance. Powder is a different element when it comes to riding. You need to put your weight on your back foot, you steer with your back foot and you float. Regular riding you want your balance centered and you steer with your front foot. So if you think about it, watching her change up her fundamentals with such ease is very impressive. Especially when it’s like a chest high wave on her. To Cashy - We are beyond proud of the little girl you are. Not only are you sweet and kind but you have a tenacity in you that keeps us all striving to be better. Better parents, better riders and better humans. Thank you for being you and the joy you bring to any human around you! #proudparents #learningisfun #snowboarding

I nearly cried when I reviewed this clip and heard her self talk. The fact she was scared, told herself these three statements and then pinned it down the mountain in full control was so amazing. To see this moment in person is a thing of beauty but we don’t have a comms system so i rarely knkw what she is saying. Then being able to review the footage of her mic’d up and hear these beautiful statements just made my heart so full. Positive self talk can do wonders for you especially if you’re feeling outside of your comfort zone. As you can hear at the end, she was scared but she did it scared and look at what comes when you DO IT SCARED! #snowboarding #positiveaffirmations #wholesome

Here is why we constantly teach little Cashy to "KEEP YOUR HEAD ON A SWIVEL" when she's riding. #teaching This little ripper loves carving down the slopes, but with all that freedom comes responsibility (and a few worried glances from yours truly). One of the biggest things I emphasize is keeping her head on a swivel! It might sound funny, but trust me, it's a snowboarding superpower. Here's why: Imagine you're cruising down the mountain, feeling the wind in your hair. Suddenly, a skier or snowboarder pops out from behind a bend! Yikes! But if you're constantly scanning the terrain ahead, you'll see them coming a mile away. Plenty of time to slow down, adjust your line, and avoid a nasty collision. It's not just about other riders who might be stopped, though. Keeping your head on a swivel lets you see everyone around you – the newbie taking a tumble, the racer zipping past, or even your shred friends who decided to take a different route. The more you know what's happening on the slopes, the better you can react and avoid any unexpected encounters. Think of it like having eyes in the back of your head (without the creepy factor!). It might feel strange at first, but with a little practice, keeping your head on a swivel becomes second nature. You'll be snowboarding with confidence, knowing you can handle whatever the mountain throws your way (and avoiding those frantic mom moments in the process!). #snowboarding #parenting101 #safetyfirst #bogusbasin

Please tell me you hear her little accent #singing Spring shredding is all about slow cat tracks, warm weather, and having the music on so you can sing it loud. Normally I would never ride with the music up. I’m not a huge fan of it and dont want to bother others. However this was a very empty spring day and we needed something to pass the time on this long slow part. So as we slowly made our way to the next run I put on one of Cashy’s favorite Kids Bop songs. I wont lie I didn’t really hear her annunciation in real time but when I showed Whitney, we both were crying laughing #snowboarding #snowboardingisfun #springvibes #lol

With the recent deep snow storm we asked Cashy if she wanted to try to hit the double black diamond run called Omar’s with us. #parentingwin For some context, this is a run that Nick and I would lap over and over again on a powder day before Cashy was born. It’s steep, not super tracked (unless it’s sunny and people can see the good snow), somewhat difficult to get to the best spots and a double black diamond. In case you are unaware of what a "double black diamond" means, black diamonds are used on the resort trail map to let people know the run is difficult or for expert snowboarders and skiers. On a trail map you will have green (easy), blue (intermediate), black (expert) and sometimes red (advanced) runs depending on where in the world you are riding. Since this run is a double black…you guessed it, double difficult! Back to more on the video. When it comes to new terrain with all of us it’s all about going slow, finding your line and then going for it. On this particular run we tend to send someone down first to set up to get the shot but also to inspect. There are a lot of boulders on Omar’s that can quickly turn into a massive drop or a super sendy booter so it’s good to be aware about what lies ahead. Watching Cash approach this run with confidence and caution, listening to both of us for advice and then full sending through the deepest powder she has ever ridden was a gift. Then to hear her scream multiple times “this is the best day of my life!” talk about something special. For Nick and I, snowboarding is our happy place. It’s the one place where we can ride together (he is better than me but I can still hang). When we found out we were pregnant all we wanted to do was live life to the fullest with our little girl and that included sharing our happy places with her. Watching little Cashy fall in love with snowboarding has made us love it even more. From the beginning our goal was to be able to go anywhere and ride any run. We never imagined we would be there so soon. Don’t get me wrong I still think she has a few years before she drops out of a helicopter but knowing my daughter, her skill and her coach-ability there is not much she can’t do. As a parent we often worry if we are raising her right. She is an only child and together we are learning. She is teaching us how to be parents and we are teaching her about life. We are not perfect but it’s moments like these that make it all okay! No matter what path we choose in this life as long as we all keep shredding, smiling, loving life and living it to the fullest then it will all work out! Huge thank you to everyone who supports us and has gifted us their time watching our videos. It really does mean a lot that we are able to be a part of your daily screen time! Much Love as always from us Rowley's PS: We don’t label the runs on the resort so please refrain from posting the “that’s not a black diamond run” comments. We would never lie on this app for views. We don’t need to, Cash is a beast! #familygoals #learning #snowboarding
