I dreamed of celebrating Jaelyn’s birthday since the moment we found out we were pregnant. Seeing her play with all the other kids & our friends and family coming to celebrate her was so special. But as it got closer, I contemplated how I wanted to celebrate her first birthday tbh. First, I thought doing something small at home and not throwing a big party and then I thought back on the last year and how incredibly hard it was for me as a new mom and I thought to myself… Why not throw a big party?! Also I love parties 😂 but I believe moms deserve to be celebrated too. I never knew how hard and beautiful the first year would be but I wanted to celebrate not only my daughter but also the small/big wins that I had as a first time disabled mom. This day was so much more than just a first birthday party. It was celebrating all the growth, I had last year. 🌷🙏🏼 so throw the da*n party mamas! You deserve it!

Over the past 13 years of navigating life with paralysis, I founded @Rollettes LA for 17-year-old Chelsie. And just in the last 7 years I’ve seen more and more girls coming to Rollettes Experience saying how much they just needed the community in person.. Every woman with a disability I’ve connected with online has reinforced the significance of this space, highlighting its transformative power. Because of them I’ve realized how important this space truly is, and how life-changing it is. Now being a mom, my WHY has grown. It’s grown in a way to show Jaelyn that she can not ONLY be anything she wants, but NO MATTER how many “no’s” she gets or what she wants to do as a career… she can truly be anything she wants in this world & there is no right or wrong way to go about it. Seeing her watch me as a mother adapt through life my hope is that she observes, adapts, and confidently navigates life’s challenges, embracing the endless possibilities before her.
