Back in 2022, I started making reactions to Phonk songs that were trending at the time. I grew in love with this genre of music because of its style, and how it was made. In early 2023, a new genre of Phonk was born. Off the start when I reacted to this new song, I first thought it sounded like Phonk but when I heard it didn’t incorperate cowbells like normal Phonk songs did. Instead, in this song, it had implemented a “Heavy Stab” that replaced the Cowbell but was mixed with Brazilian funk beats to keep the upbeat style of this genre. The song I’m specially talking about the inovated this new phonk genre was called “Brazilian Phonk Mano” by Slowboy and Crazy Mano. This new genre became known as Brazilian Phonk because of it’s interesting style and would later become the genre that made 2023. From then to now, after thousands of new songs were created under the Brazilian Phonk genre, phonk listeners started to become bored of this “new” but now “old” phonk genre and wanted something new to listen to. That’s when a new genre was cookin’ up. Early this year (2024), two songs ”Funked Up” by Xxanteria and “Krushed!” by $werve, Fxrce, & sxcredmane would start a revolution in the music space. Creating an entirely new genre by accident inspired by a style of music called Krush Club. They mixed this genre with the pervious genre that was already trending at the time “Brazilian Phonk” and decided to mix Funk beats to make an upbeat 8-bit style of music using a bitcrusher to mash the sound in the song to make it sound retro. After many name changes from different tastemakers in the music space saying they knew what this genre was by calling it Krushphonk or Brazilian Krush, we finally decided on a name for this newly made and carefully crafted genre. Then a new genre was born in 2024. We shall call it “Krushfunk”
