A positive test would create a pinching pain. This likely indicates impingement or a slap labral tear. 💥Hornblower’s Test: Bring your arm out to the side of your shoulder with a 90 degree bend. Place your opposite hand on the outstretched hand and press down. If that causes pain, that is positive for a rotator cuff issue or injury. 💥O’Brien’s Test: Bring your straight arm up to shoulder height and then bring it across the body. Make a fist and point your thumb downward, now use the opposite hand to press down. As in Yocum’s test, a pinching pain can be positive for impingement or a labral tear. Did you know that the rotator cuff is actually a group of four muscles that come together as tendons to form a covering around the head of the humerus? The rotator cuff attaches the humerus to the shoulder blade and helps to lift and rotate your arm. 💪 Are you struggling with rotator cuff issues? 😅Here are 3 prone exercises that you might find beneficial! 👀 Exercise #1, Straight Arm Pulldowns: Reach your right arm up overhead with your palm facing down, and draw your elbow down to your side, then flip your palm up as you straighten your arm down by your side. Exercise #2, Ball Rotations: Hold a medium sized ball with a straight arm at a perpendicular angle to your body and work to turn your palm up to the ceiling. Return to neutral and repeat. Exercise #3, Shoulder Rotations: Start with your elbow bent and your palm face up behind your low back as shown. Slide your elbow to the side of your body and flip your palm down. If it is available to you, press your elbow down towards the ground as you rotate your palm towards the ceiling. There you go!
