BODY RECOMPOSITION. The process of building muscle and losing fat simultaneously. Please don’t be afraid of gaining weight or worry about the number on the scale in your fitness journey. The scale tells a very small story in at all… The best thing you can do is pick up heavy weights, eat more protein, prioritize your rest, and stay consistent. Here’s what you’re going to do to achieve body recomposition. 1. Stick with your maintenance calories. All this is saying is that you’re going to eat the same amount of calories that you burn throughout the day. So let’s say you burn 1800 calories a day, you’ll also want to consume 1800 calories per day. 2. Prioritize protein. Aim to consume 1g of protein per ideal body weight. Ultimately what’s going to happen is that you’re going to start to burn the fat and then start to gain muscle mass. That means that during this time you’re not going to likely lose or gain weight but you’re going to start to look completely different at the same weight. 3. Strength training (progressive overload) + pilates 4-5x per week following a program. You can find my program in my b!0. If you focus on these 3 things you’ll transform your body and feel so strong. One night or week won’t change anything but after a few months and years you’ll look back and feel unrecognizable. Allow yourself to grow and don’t hold yourself back! This is how I healed my relationship with my body and nutrition. understanding how movement affects your journey, is only going to empower you. With that being said, if you’re on a fat loss journey, the last thing you wanna do is a ton of cardio, because not only is that going to increase your appetite, which will likely take you out of a deficit, but it’s also going to break down your existing muscle. AND MUSCLE BURNS FAT. The way I wish I understood this at the beginning of my weight-loss journey… naturally the more muscle you have on your body, the lower your body, fat percentage will be PERIOD. Muscle is also the most metabolically active tissue in your body (which is a fancy way of saying that muscle needs a lot of calories to be sustained, so it stimulates your metabolism to function faster) so now are you not only burning body fat faster, but you are sustaining fat loss in the long run. ‼️No more using genetics as an excuse for a slow metabolism… ‼️ WHICH MEANS, weight training is the most efficient form of exercise that you should be performing, if you’re on a fat loss journey when it comes down to the science. But now I’ll eat my words, and say, if you cannot be consistent with weight training, at this point in your life, be consistent with whatever form of movement, makes you feel empowered, and strong.💪🏽 And if this is already overwhelming, or you can just tell you need more support, this is why I became a coach.
