It made strikes so addicting I couldn't stop hitting balls. Yesterday I couldn’t stop hitting balls. For the life of me, I could not… stop... hitting... It was so addicting to hit a ball like that. In that moment I thought “This is what golf is supposed to be like!” After a couple of hours of ball striking bliss, I headed home with a smile on my face. Life is good. You know it only takes 5 seconds to experience ball striking like that? There was a time when my ball striking was out of sorts. It felt flippy and weak. I could play well and hit it straight, but something wasn’t right. I was hitting clean, but it didn’t feel compressed. It’s like I was leaving some great ball striking on the table. A quick look at my grip revealed something big. Then I made a 1.5 second tweak and euphoria happened. The strike came back. The feeling of compression was there. Grip tips are like the unromantic side of golf. It’s the grip…come on…really? Yes. Really. The grip is the only connection between you and the club. It can be the difference between you being a 30 handicap and a 5 handicap. What I changed in that 1.5 seconds set the rest of my swing in motion to make a crispy strike with the ball. It created a predictable, powerful impact with the ball. So good that you don’t want to stop hitting balls. Today I’m sharing this 1.5 second tip that led to euphoria on the range.
